Between Saturday, Aug. 17 and Monday, Sept. 2, state, county and local police agencies throughout Dutchess County conducted details that included sobriety checkpoints and emphasis patrols countywide, as well as their regular patrols.

In total, 60 arrests were made, including 59 for alleged impaired driving.

According to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department, “the objective of this continued enforcement grant is to revitalize and enhance the visibility of the STOP-DWI Program through coordinated multi-agency impaired driving enforcement details targeting identified statewide crackdown periods.”

William Johnson, the Dutchess County STOP-DWI coordinator, said, “with enforcement efforts being ramped up throughout the Labor Day Crackdown period the message is clear.
